I truly believe that there is a reason why some people appear in your life.
Although I have only virtually met Oana Pellea, she has managed to leave the most exquisite impression. She has lightened parts of my consciousness that have gone blunt, and one of those is my faith in people. By hearing her and reading the "Diary" she published, I learnt that life most always center upon today, upon the fact that we are lucky to live it.
There is a reason for the "unexplained", and one must understand that is not essential to always find it, but be grateful for the reason.

One might mistaken it for love

I have just finished reading a novel that has infuriated me. I bought it due to my sound respect for the authoress and the stream of consciousness technique that she used in her novels.
Yet, after I had finished it, I found myself just as disappointed as I was when I read that one of my dearest writers, Fay Weldon, declared that: “As long as you have a sort of semi-good looking, able bodied, intelligent man, you should have his baby”.
Women are most fooled by two things: the look of love and the biological clock.
I find it very sad that women should have as goal getting married and having children. But most of all, I find it horrifying that women measure the material “proofs” as love.
The “love” drama depicted in this novel centers upon the story of two people, man and woman, not married to each other. The strongest of the arguments in this attempt to convince the reader about another “face” of love is that they write each other letters, every day for 10 years.
But every single one of the letters revealed the loneliness they experienced in their married life, of how they felt trapped and hoped that the other would have been different.
The she-character claimed that one man can love two women at the same time, with the same passion. While the he-character justified his fear of divorce due to social rules one must live by.
I think every one owes it to oneself to try and be happy (often marked as selfishness), to take risks and embark upon quests for happiness. And I am sure that love is not about giving proof, no matter the number of years.

I think my upstairs neighbour lives in Syberia. He must be. Otherwise I cannot explain the noise going on in his room late at night and very early in the morning. And the cold gets so heavy that he pulls to his bed all the furniture in the room: bookcase, table, chairs, desk etc., to keep him warm during his sleep. Early in the morning, when he wakes up, he pushes them all to their proper places, and rushes to the bathroom. Typhoons and lightnings must fight for his attention, while he clumsily reaches for the comb. That must be his first worry: One must look incredibly handsome! Then he goes to the kitchen and, against a dreadful earthquake, he manages to drink his coffee while sitting.

Oh dear, and I thought the heavy snow outside is the most horrible meteorological phenomenon.

A few months ago my nephew used to call any lighted bulb as moon.

Christmas is almost here and whenever I hear carols, I remember the lights of the Christmas tree from my uncle's house. I do not know why, but the lights installation in his house seemed magical. I used to watch it in silence while I was perking up my ears, hoping to catch uncle G. slipping the present right in my hands. I loved spending Christmas day in uncle G.'s house. Maybe because of the happy face my father had when together with his brother, my uncle, started carolling. They usually sang old carols, honoring the memories they had together.

All around people are talking about Christmas spirit, about the goodness and joy, about giving, and most of all about cherishing. I cannot say for certain if I trully understand the Christmas spirit, but I surely have memories to keep it alive.

Lisa found me one day in a secret hidding place. John had left me there. Tired. He did not say it, anyway not to my face, but I knew that he was having a hard time trying to commit.

Everybody knows that in order to shine, a diamond must be polished every now and then. It is not enough to make promises. On the contrary, I should say I am against any pompous vow. But most of all, I think it is better to stop if one feels that one is "giving" too much.

There is no secret ingredient, nor is there any perfect recipe to a successful relationship. I think that a relationship should constantly go through an examination. Almost as thorough as a medical checkup. Moreover, partners should be able to equal their efforts in a relationship. And each of them should watch over the other's goals and needs.

I am a diamond. Therefore, it is easier for me to see love/ relationships from a pragmatic point of view. I must shine, I must be polished. To this end, I want to keep company with light-lovers that are not afraid of a dusting cloth.

I was very sleepy this morning on my way to the office. But my sleep was chased away by a conversation between two men. Apparently, they could not decide upon the proper number of roses to give to a woman. One claimed that considering her coming of age, thirty is a good number. Then, of course, the issue of color was debated, and the meaning of each.
I did not have the chance to witness to the end of their conversation as they got off one stop before I did. But I very much enjoyed it. And they say men are not thoughtful...

Arad is a sonnet of 15 lines. It is a beautiful mingle of European and Romanian, of quiet and noise, of traditional and modern. Arad has its own charm, but if I may have to describe it I would say that it is a little bit of Oradea, Alba Iulia and Sibiu. I had the most wonderful stay at Pensiunea Christiana, which is not very close to the centre of the city, but is very clean and cozy, and the staff there is really nice and hospitable.

Yesterday I saw a snail jumping out of a window. He was happy. Happy to finally try out the sensational bungee-jumping. I met him afterwards at a dinner table. He was sitting right next to Robin Hood. He told me that he had given it a lot of thought and decided upon joining a different kind of Army. I asked him if he really still believed in the power of good. Snail told me he was fed up with such a question, turned on his spirally coiled shell and flew off using his stalked eyes.

Since then I have been hearing about various attacks upon rich people. And about snails.

A lightbulb got lost in an orchard. An orange orchard. He was hanging out with some schoolmates and on their way to the sea, they found an orange orchard. As they entered, slowly the dusk was falling. All the leaves and fruits glowed redly as touched by a ferocious fire. One of his friends stopped by the smallest orange tree and laughed at its tiny leaves and fruitless branches. Then he turned left and run off to spy on a lark.
Our friend, the lightbulb, got stocked in a cobweb and while he was struggling to find his way out of it, he heard the little orange tree crying. Moved by its sobbing, the lightbulb got closer and closer to the orange tree and tried to utter some calming words. But he could not, somehow. And as he sat there, near one of its branches, the orange tree reached out to the lightbulb and thanked him for the light.
And so they engaged in conversation

Veliko Tarnovo is a small, beautiful town situated in the north of Bulgaria. It dazzles you with its scenery, especially the way the houses are built and arranged throughout the town. You have the impression of being somewhere on a hill in Greece and the only thing missing would be the sea.

The paved, narrow streets are adorned with small houses with flowered balconies and very, very narrow paths that lead to stairs which, on their own turn, lead to other paved and narrow streets.

I have never experienced a more acute feeling of serenity and bliss. This town is a homage to life... and cats. There are everywhere, looking for food, enjoying the sun, teasing the few dogs that were left behind after a supposedly battle between dogs and cats, and it seems like the latter won.

The ruins of the castle Tsarevets are a kind of passe-par-tout of the town, ennobling its true beauty. Up the hill there is a church. I take it that everybody who has seen it, has had the most breathtaking experience. Or so I would like to think.

This church is not like any other. The way it was painted and the idea of the great genius behind it are far the most impressive things I have ever encountered. There is a certain collage between the old and the new style of painting, a mix between the glorious and forgiving expressions with the macabre, painful and sullen expressions of the saints. All figures are long and rough at margins and they convey a never ending to their sufferings. And in the place of the altar there is a large and heavy rock hanging from the ceiling picturing Mary and Jesus. There are so many things presented in such a different way that it made me wonder how the clergy accepted it.

When visiting Vienna, you might be amazed at the crowd of tourists pouring into/ out of cafes, museums and shops. Nevertheless, such crowd is not tiredsome.
I marvelled again at the hostpitality of the Viennese people. I love the way they carry on with their lives calm and serene. And the way they are willing to help you out, even without you asking for it. I had the most wonderful experience with a Viennese woman. I was lost and I was taking the map out of my backpack. She was parking her bike and seeing me, she told me something in German. As I looked at her, seemingly not understanding what she said, she switched to English and asked me if she can be of service. I told her the name of the street I was looking for. She directed me to it, wished me a nice day and left.
Besides views, either from Belvedere Palace or Danube Tower, Vienna has many other wonderful things to offer, such as: lounges where you can have great cups of coffee, restaurants with exceptional food, chocolateries, a great variety of museums and parks, markets and most comfortable and easy to use means of transportation.

I often enjoy drawing various shapes: square, circle, cube, diamond, triangle, rectangle, oval etc. All of these shapes mingle into one, whenever put on a piece of paper.
The most exquisite of them all, for me, is the rectangle. It is not as complex as a frustum of a cone, but it is challenging enough.
Have you ever tried drawing one in the middle of a blank page? If so, have you ever noticed how such a page grows brighter and even squarer?
And once in a while, such a rectangle may lure you. It may tease you into drawing more, and more. Until the blank page has turned into something unexpectedly lined, and round, and square, and shaped.

I visited Budapest a month ago and I grew very fond of the city, of its incredible mirage. Every corner, every street, every house or windowpane has its wonderful individual pattern. One might have the impression that once one has seen a great deal of the city, one has grasped its secret, its uniqueness. But no. Budapest is one of those great cities that you have to discover in order to discover it, because no street looks like the other and there is no such thing as downtown. You would be impressed in order to find that Budapest has several downtowns.
One of the things I loved the most about Budapest is that you do not feel as a tourist. You do not feel as if you are in quest of sightseeings and you definitely do not elbow against other eagerless toursits like it might occur in other popular European capitals. Nobody is in no hurry. Neither the tourists, nor the inhabitants. Everybody is enjoying their day-to-day life and that is a lesson you will easily put into practice.
The Parliament is magnificent. And so are the Royal Palace, the Fisherman's Bastion and all the other main tourist attractions of the city. But if I were to visit it once again, I would surely start the journey with a most relaxating time in the Thermal Baths and have a long picnic in one of their marvellous parks.
The food is also extremely good and Hungarians are rather friendly. But if I were to recommend a great restaurant in Budapest that would be Paprika.It is close to the Szechenyi Bath and Spa Budapest.

There is a certain mystery in the way the sunrays gently touch the window panes. I enjoy looking at them from the outside, sitting on some stairs and watching the unwatched. I also enjoy staying indoors and looking out of the window. Contrary to others' opinions, I am not waiting for Prince Charming. I am a silent observer.
I have often thought about how people came with the idea of a balcony. I refuse to think that it was invented only for domestic purpose. But anyways, hearing this song makes me feel like I am sitting at the window of a balcony, the sun is about to go down, there is smell of mist in the air and a sweet sound of birds flying in the sky. Today Mr. Beaver has decided upon never answering to the door whenever bored. He had giving this a lot of thought: If I am bored, why spoil it? It is better to keep it low. One never knows, but instead of being bored, one could get insanely mad over anything outside one's door.
Sometimes boredoom feels nice. It gives a somewhat feeling of belonging, of knowing that the feeling is so intense that you could actually touch it. And by touching it, one could also prove one's existence.
Mr. Beaver always considered himself a great philosopher although he had never had a proof of acknowledgement from others. He took a glimpse of himself in the mirror and concluded that he could easily pass by as a philosopher. He surely had the Roman jaw for it.
Mr. Beaver sat down on one of his grassy chairs, grabbed the wooden pencil his old friend, Fox, had given him and started scrawling on a water melon: I am bored therefore I am.
He grinned at himself thinking: Descartes got it totally wrong.

Cum circulă vestea? Mereu m-am întrebat. Bine, acum e mai uşor datorită atâtor mijloace de comunicare, însă înainte era mult mai dificil. Să fii vestitor era o adevărată provocare. Poate chiar o meserie. Trebuia să fii mereu în alertă şi prezent în mijlocul mulţimii. Să fii mereu primul care dă vestea şi să te asiguri că ai rostit-o clar şi convingător. Vestitorii erau mult mai apreciaţi, în trecut. Acum, ei sunt catalogaţi drept bârfitori şi necuviincioşi.

Duminică am ajuns complet accidental la o expoziţie de pictură.
Mi-au plăcut atât de mult picturile, încât l-am rugat pe domnul Ţolaş să-mi permită să-l pozez alături de operele sale. Aveam să aflu mai apoi că domnul Ţolaş a fost premiat în anii 2004 şi 2006 la Concursul naţional de "Pictură marină". Iar în 2011 Ministerul Apărării Naţionale i-a conferit distincţia DIPLOMĂ DE EXCELENŢĂ în semn de apreciere pentru talentul său şi pentru dăruirea manifestată în promovarea artei româneşti.

Cam aşa aş putea descrie relaţia mea din ultima vreme cu inspiraţia (în ceea ce priveşte scrisul pe blog).
Primăvara mi-a pătruns adânc în pori. Visez, mă plimb alene pe străduţe neumblate până atunci, respir aer călduţ, planific, mai visez şi iar planific.
Faimoasa "To do list" se măreşte pe zi ce trece. Dar asta e bine. Sunt busy bee şi tare mult îmi place.

N-am mai citit de mult o carte atât de spumoasă. Mai mult decât o poveste de dragoste (pe jumătate împărtăşită sau nu - depinde de cât de darnică vă este imaginaţia), această carte te transpune în mijlocul dorinţelor împlinite, a frustrărilor ce survin odată cu acestea şi, mai ales, a preţului pe care trebuie să-l plăteşti atunci când încăpăţânarea pune stăpânire pe fiinţa ta.
Şi pentru că mai mereu simt nevoia să trag o concluzie: Visaţi! Visaţi! Visaţi!

Biutiful

Trebuie să ai o anumită stare atunci când priveşti un film spaniol. Un film spaniol spune lucrurile pe şleau. Nu se împiedică de formalităţi. Şi nici măcar de ortografie. De aceea beautiful se scrie precum se aude: biutiful.
"Biutiful" este povestea oricăror "originale" false din viaţa noastră. "Originale" cu care ne pierdem inutil vremea.
Însă, în acelaşi timp, "Biutiful" ne prezintă viaţa aşa cum este ea: beautiful. Ce-i drept, ea abundă de datorii, sărăcie, drumuri închise, ratare, mizerie şi trudă. Iar toate acestea devin biutiful datorită unei mici sclipiri de omenie, de iubire între semeni, de vise (fie ele îndeplinite sau nu, reale sau imaginare) şi poftă de viaţă în ciuda încercărilor grele ale vieţii.
Viaţa e biutiful. Plină de greşeli, dar acest lucru nu îi estompează frumuseţea.

Simt cum mă transform uşor, uşor din Dorothy în Omul de tinichea.
Ziua nu mai poftesc la budinci de ciocolată şi un pătuţ mare şi cald. Mă trezesc că îmi doresc o sticlă de ulei bun cu care să-mi ung încheieturile care-mi scârţâie prea rău.
Iar noaptea nu mai visez la nopţi de iarnă şi castane coapte. În schimb, survolez kilometri întregi deasupra deltei şi ademenesc papagali cu felii de mango.
Sunt în căutarea unei aventuri. Mi-e dor să-mi unesc forţele cu oameni care au un ţel şi nu se lasă opriţi de niciun obstacol.

O picătură se retrage uşor înapoi de unde a coborât. A căzut peste asfalt şi nu i-a plăcut ce-a văzut acolo. Lume veselă trecând nepăsătoare pe lângă ea. Raze de soare ce i-au făcut marginile să-i sfârâie. Vai, conturul ei atât de frumos şi atent lucrat!
Dar nu. Nu mai vrea să stea cuminte pe asfalt, aşteptând să se unească cu vreun lac. Se întoarce în vârful ţurţurelui.
De acolo lumea se vede altfel. Iar toţi par la fel.

Ieşise în stradă. Ceva din aerul închis din casă o gonise. Păşise alene peste prag, iar scara de beton de sub piciorul ei frânt şi deznadăjduit era singura dovadă de nestrămutare. Vrusese să fugă. Da. Cu gândul acesta plecase. Însă aerul rece şi umed o ţintui locului.
Se aşeză pe scară. Îşi simţea capul plin şi gol în acelaşi timp. Ar fi avut atâtea de strigat lumii întregi. Îşi scoase cu degetele firave pachetul de ţigări din buzunarul hainei. Aprinse o ţigară şi trase instinctiv, fără pauză şi cu grabă de parcă lumea se sfârşea în secunda aceea. Privi spre cer. Rămăsese la fel precum îl ştia ea. Darnic şi binevoitor. Însă ea se schimbase mult. Se întrebase adesea cât mai avea să alerge aşa, fără vreo destinaţie anume. Ar fi vrut să se întoarcă înapoi, dar acest lucru era imposibil. Precum scara aceasta pe care şedea, unele lucruri sunt imposibil de schimbat.
O stea apăru pe cer. Se întuneca. Uşor, uşor.
Zâmbi. Îşi pusese atâtea dorinţe privind-o. Chiar şi acum. O privea şi se gândea la ce dorinţă să-şi pună. Ce copilărie! Soarta oamenilor nu se poate schimba încercând să negociezi cu o stea. Şi apoi, e prea departe să te audă.
Şi totuşi... Dacă ar mai încerca o dată. Întinse mâna de parcă ar fi vrut să atragă atenţia astrului asupra ei: Îmi doresc să ...

Săptămâna aceasta am funcţionat precum un devotat discipol al lui Sartre. Am simţit nevoia să adresez întrebări, să trag concluzii. Pentru mine, anumite lucruri trebuie să fie clare. Frumos aranjate pe raft şi cu etichetă la vedere.
Astăzi am pus pe raft borcanul cu vorbe de duh. I-am pus o etichetă din catifea roşie şi cu vopsea albă am scris:

Hakuna matata!

Săptămâna trecută am vizitat oraşul Paris. Auzisem multe lucruri frumoase despre acest oraş, însă le-am dat crezare doar după ce am ajuns acolo.
Fiecare colţişor are un farmec al lui şi fiecare dintre obiectivele vizitate m-au fermecat, însă cel mai mult mi-a plăcut Sacre Coeur.
Cum cobori din metrou, îţi iau ochii diverse bazare colorate, haine şi pantofi scoşi pe trotuar pentru a fi vândute. Pentru câteva momente te laşi purtat de mulţimea agitată şi de strigătele celor care joacă Alba-Neagra. Şi uiţi unde eşti, aproape cu desăvârşire. Până când zăreşti înălţându-se din cer cupole albe în stil bizantin.
Mă speriase cineva cum că voi avea multe scări de urcat până la bazilică, însă nu a fost un efort supraomenesc. Plus că, urcând scară cu scară, poţi observa mai bine panorama oraşului.
La poalele bazilicii te aşteaptă diverşi comercianţi dornici să-şi câştige un ban cinstit. Însă uneori pretenţiile în materie de bani depăşesc cinstea. O prietenă s-a ales cu o brăţară împletită pe loc, cu o prevestire de naştere a cinci copii şi cu un rezonabil preţ de 5 euro. Însă omul a fost mulţumit şi cu un euro, dăruindu-ne în schimb o vorbă de duh: Hakuna matata! (Fii fără griji!)

Rochia roşie

Când se plictisesc de lumina reflectoarelor, rochiile negre pleacă în vizită. De cele mai multe ori, vizitează muzee şi când ostenesc se aşează pe băncile din parc. Rochiile negre sunt pretenţioase. Se feresc de ţânţari, de pudra de talc şi de puful de salcâm. Întreţin conversaţii spumoase cu pantofii negri de lac şi ignoră cu desăvârşire vreun salut îndrăzneţ venit din partea hanoracelor cu glugă.
Se feresc să admită, însă se tem grozav de rochiile roşii. Sunt prea dezinvolte pentru gustul lor. Şi apoi, au mereu ceva de spus, în orice situaţie. Ori, se ştie, rochiile negre sunt cuminţi, educate şi cunosc ce este aceea stăpânire de sine.
Adeseori se găsesc în competiţie cu rochiile albe. Cel puţin aşa zice lumea. Însă o rochie albă este o rochie albă. Şi nimic mai mult.
Păcat că între rochia neagră şi cea roşie nu se leagă amiciţii. Ar fi putut merge la multe muzee împreună.

There are certain moments in life when saying Goodbye is too little to help those parting from each other get over this difficult moment. One might as well say: Look for the bump in the road! It makes just as much sense.
I have often heard people saying Goodbye, in different kinds of situations. I saw them waving their hands, faking a smile and walking without looking back. I have listened to them sobbing and twirling around to see if the one leaving has decided to stay.
In any case, the word Goodbye is far too hard to pronounce and impossible to deal with. Now it strikes me why Spanish people say Hasta luego!, which means See you later. It makes the parting moment more bearable, especially when the words uttered assure the other one that he/ she might see the other person soon.

Săptămâna trecută am accesat blogul Klarei. Acolo am vizionat un video postat de ea, reprezentându-l pe Toma Caragiu într-o scenetă.
Am vizionat videoclipul cu mare încântare. Ei bine, şi de acolo lanţul slăbiciunilor. Am vizionat mai toate videoclipurile cu Toma Caragiu postate pe you tube. Dar şi unele cu Puiu Călinescu, Dem Rădulescu, Amza Pelea, Tamara Buciuceanu Botez şi alţii.
Însă dintre toate, tare mi-e dragă schiţa despre Gârneaţă.

Multă lume mă întreabă de ce scriu atât de mult despre trecut şi mai ales, cum de mi-amintesc cu atâta acurateţe în ce eram îmbrăcată când m-am dus la premierea de la sfârşitul clasei a doua.
Am încercat multă vreme să vin cu un răspuns satisfăcător. Iniţial am crezut că poate mă dezamăgeşte prezentul şi atunci mă refugiez în trecut. Dar nu. Nu este acesta motivul. Mai ales pentru că scriu despre trecut chiar şi atunci când prezentul în care mă găsesc este frumos pieptănat şi poartă cravată colorată.
Şi atunci, care este explicaţia?
Răspunsul l-am găsit pe nepregătite. De fapt, m-a găsit el pe mine. Stând la interminabilele mese de Crăciun cu părinţii mei. De când îi ştiu, alor mei le place să povestească. Şi deşi sunt poveşti pe care le-am auzit de măcar 50 de ori, încă le mai ascult fermecată. Iar uneori printre aceste poveşti se strecoară poveşti pe care nu le-am mai auzit niciodată. Poveşti care mă cutremură până la lacrimi, poveşti care mă fac să râd atât de tare încât vecinul de la etajul patru ştie că am venit în vizită la părinţii mei.
Am fost crescută în spiritul mai multor "datini", iar constanta aducere aminte a trecutului, a locului din care ai plecat, a omului care ai fost şi care te-a ajutat să devii cine eşti astăzi, este una dintre ele.
Am râs cu lacrimi când tata mi-a povestit cum un fost coleg de-ai lui de la tipografie se dădea mare erudit şi le-a făcut o invitaţie la cinematograf.
Au plecat mai mulţi la film, însă pe drum unul dintre ei l-a întrebat ce înseamnă Madame sans gêne, iar stimabilul erudit a răspuns: Doamna fără gene.
